The goal of the residency is to develop a reference guide for implementing, monitoring, and tuning workloads in a containerized multicloud Power Systems environment with Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Cloud Pak for Data using theoretical knowledge, hands-on exercises, and documenting the findings by way of sample scenarios. Note: Many of the topics and scenarios to be researched, tested, and documented are brainstormed prior to the start of the residency and during the first few days of the residency with the residency team, technical focal points, and solutions teams. This book addresses topics for IT architects, IT specialists, Technical Sellers, Systems Architects, Developers, Brand Specialists, and anyone looking for a reference guide on how to implement, monitor, and manage containerized workloads on-premises and in the Cloud with Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Pak for Data on IBM Power Systems. The residency will utilize any available documentation, hardware, and software resources to (this is not a comprehensive list):
+ Design, test, and document implementation techniques case scenarios with containerized workloads running on Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Cloud Pak for Data in hybrid multicloud environments with IBM Power Systems.
+ Document sizing guidelines to help provide an optimal system configuration and implementation.
+ Experiment migration scenarios for workloads currently running on older generations of Power Systems servers on newer generation of Power Systems servers running on-premises or in the Cloud.
+ Instrument and monitor workloads utilizing Istana, Watson AIOP, and other solutions.
+ Help develop and document best practices on how to journey workloads and the transition of workloads to the Cloud.
+ Provide guidance to the Technical Sales teams about the solution.
+ Provide feedback to the development teams on current features, behaviors and wish list features that can be developed in upcoming releases.
+ Host a webinar to educate the teams on the lessons learned during the residency.
Note: The document highlights the current available security offerings for containerized workloads supported on Red Hat OpenShift for IBM Power Systems including best practices.
A basic requirement for all residents is the ability to read and clearly express concepts and procedures in common English.

+ Include any relevant information to the residency topic including IBM Power Systems solutions deployment expertise, monitoring, troubleshooting, security, and performance tuning.In addition to authoring a Redbooks deliverable, participants will be expected to create at least one technical blog post and to appear in one video to complement the main deliverable. The blog posts can be done during the residency, or immediately after the residency ends and the participant has returned home. Participants will also be asked to help promote all deliverables created during the residency through social media.
